Is that Mystery Nokia Windows Phone the Lumia 601? (Image)

This is supposedly the Nokia Lumia 601 Windows Phone, but we'll be honest: we're not sure what to make of this image. On the one hand, it came from a pretty reliable source and depicts a handset seemingly leaked by Nokia itself in a developer video this past week. On the other hand, it looks a little bit off -- not like the product renders we're used to seeing. Plus, as we noted when the (now-edited) video debuted, the mystery device looks a lot like a generic placeholder image that Nokia has been using for some time.

If it is in fact genuine -- meaning representative of a real-world handset -- then we'd seem to be looking at a phone even lower-end, relatively, than the Lumia 710, according to Nokia's new device nomenclature. Since no specs were available to accompany the image, we can't be certain that holds true here, especially with what appears to be an eight-megapixel camera aboard (the 710 offers a five-megapixel shooter).

We do know that the head of Nokia France recently likened the Lumia 800 to BMW's 5-series, suggesting that a 7-series (Lumia 900?) was also inbound. Following that analogy, then, could the Lumia 710 be a "3-series," with the supposed Lumia 601 being the "1-series"?

Update: The Nokia Blog astutely notes that the camera module here is very similar to -- but, to our eye, not the exact same as -- the full focus unit found on the Symbian-powered C7. That either further discredits this render or is perhaps indicative of the alleged 601's lower-end components and Nokia's move

AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket Pictured In White (Image)

On the very last day of October AT&T introduced the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket -- together with the HTC Vivid -- as the carrier's first LTE-enabled phones. A week later the phone went on sale and the carrier was kind enough to confirm the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update, though coming in 2012.

How about a white Skyrocket just like the one pictured above? Samsung already makes a white version of its international Galaxy S II (and even a pink one for Korea) so getting a pale version of the AT&T Skyrocket is a great addition to the line-up. You can at least be different in terms of looks because specs-wise the phone still packs the same 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, eight-megapixel camera, and two-megapixels webcam, like it's classic twin brother.

Official Windows Phone Twitter Client Gets Another Update

The official Twitter client for Windows Phone recently received an update which made the application take advantage of Mango's fast app switching. Now, three days later, the application is being updated again.

The new version number is 1.3.0.0 and it is not clear what it is exactly that it brings. You still don't have the ability to pin stuff like mentions or direct messages to your Start Screen and there still is no Live Tile to go with the app. We'll just believe it's a regular bugfix/performance improvement update until someone proves us wrong. And, about those Live Tiles we mentioned, do you think there really is a need with the Me Tile doing a good job in notifying you of updates?

IM+ for Windows Phone Updated With New Features

IM+ is trying to be you only instant messaging application you'll ever need to use on your Windows Phone because it aggregates the most common services in a single application. The new version, 1.9, brings some new features to the table.

A certain Mail.Ru Agent instant messaging service has been added just in case you have an account. You can select font size in the conversation window, support for Facebook contacts in ICQ and AIM contact lists has been added and so are the typing notifications in case you wonder what the other party was doing. You can dismiss Toast notifications with a single slide, block authorization requests and do not receive messages from contacts not on your contact list and if you speak Russian natively, there's also localization for that. Of course, the package contains the usual performance boost and bug fixes so make sure you update your client.

Google Updates Galaxy Nexus Specs, Yanks 32GB Version?

The Samsung-made Google Galaxy Nexus was listed with Verizon LTE/CDMA compatibility and 16/32GB storage flavors but going to the official technical specifications page for the phone reveals that Google has made some changes.

As you can see in the image above, there's only a 16GB variant listed. While there's no guarantee that there will be no 32GB versions out there, is this a deal-breaker for some? Also, at the time Google unveiled the phone together with the manufacturer, we were told of a 1750mAh battery (GSM). Now the official specs list a slightly larger capacity battery, one of 1850mAh (LTE). We're sure you don't mind this!

Microsoft Gives $25 App Card To New Windows Phone Owners

This is a two-step process out of which the first one is more important. You have to purchase a new Windows Phone until the end of this year -- eligibility starts from November 2 -- to be able to benefit from this offer.

Microsoft is granting $25 Prepaid App Cards for new Windows Phone owners, granted they submit all the info no later than February 14, 2012, so that they can spend the money on new apps and games from the Marketplace. Chances are all you apps are already there for Windows Phone as it hit the 40,000 app milestone, so $25 will at least grant you a dozen paid applications (or even more). Follow the source link to claim your card if you are eligible.
