The new features and the improvements are described in the infographic which can be downloaded from here. For more information on all the new tweaks and features jump over to the LibreOffice website for a full list.  LibreOffice 3.5 is available to download from here.

Google Public DNS Service Now Processes Over 70 Billion Requests A Day

Back in December 2009 Google launched its Google Public DNS a free, global Domain Name System (DNS) resolution service. But today Google’s DNS service is now longer an experimental service, and has become the worlds largest DNS service.
An Internet DNS service acts like a giant phone book allowing users to look up hundreds or thousands of entries everyday, and now Google’s DNS service is processing over 70 billion requests on a daily basis.
Google DNS
Google Public DNS service is particularly popular internationally, with around 70 percent of its traffic arriving from outside the U.S. Google also has a strong presence in North America, South America and Europe, and increased its presence in Asia. As well as adding new access points to parts of the world that previously didn’t have Google Public DNS servers installed, including Australia, India, Japan and Nigeria. You can find more information about Google DNS service over on the official website here.
“Shortly after launch, we made a technical proposal for how public DNS services can work better with some kinds of important web hosts (known as content distribution networks, or CDNs) that have servers all of the world. We came up with a way to pass information to CDNs so they can send users to nearby servers. Our proposal, now called “edns-client-subnet,” continues to be discussed by members of the Internet Engineering Task Force. While we work with the IETF, other companies have started experimenting with implementing this proposal.
Google Public DNS’s goal is simple: making the web—really, the whole Internet!—faster for our users. If you’d like to try it yourself, please see our page Using Google Public DNS. For more information, please see our Introduction to Google Public DNS and Frequently Asked Questions.”

Quadrant 2.0 Benchmarking App Now Supports ICS And Multi-core Processors

Aurora Softworks have this week rolled out a new update to their Quadran Standard Edition benchmarking application for Android devices taking the software to version 2.0. Bringing with it support for Google new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) and multi-core processors.
Quadrant 2
The Quadrant 2.0 software is a CPU, I/O and 3D graphics benchmark system that allows you to compare the speeds and performance of Android devices. The Standard Edition requires an Internet connection to compute benchmark results and require a device with a GPU to function.
With the launch of Quadrant 2.0 you will need to note that its results aren’t directly comparable against those produced by earlier versions. Aurora explains that scores are tallied differently from their 1.x version of the application. Because of this, some may seem results that don’t make any sense at all. Aurora say they will soon be updating their results browser to reflect the new scoring system, so just be patient.

Google Circles
As well as the layout features Google has also added quicker methods to locate people within the Google+ social network. Googler Sean Purcell explains in his blog post announcing the new changes:
“building on earlier work by +Simon Tong, +Jeff Dean and +Sanjay Ghemawat we’ve made lots of improvements to “Find People.” Simply type the name of a person or page you’re interested in, and we’ll suggest related individuals and organizations to add to your circles. We’re always working to make Circles fast, fluid and fun, so let us know what you think in the comments, and keep the feedback coming!”
