Android 4.0 ICS Update For Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket Leaked

AT&T’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S II, which is called the Galaxy S II Skyrocket has yet to receive the official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update, but now it would appear that the update has been leaked.

The guys over at RooztWiki have discovered the leaked ROM, which has a build date of the 14th of March, and it can be used to update you Galaxy S II Skyrocket to ICS.

We don’t have any information on when it might be released officially, but we are proud to offer you a fully functional Samsung-crafted Ice Cream Sandwich release for the Skyrocket. Let the downloading commence!

HTC One X With Snapdragon S4 Gets Benchmarked

AT&T’s version of the HTC One X won’t come with the NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor that is featured in the international version, instead the device will come with Qualcomm’s dual core Snapdragon S4 processor.

Now it looks like we have the first benchmarks on the S4 version of the HTC One X, thanks to Phonegeek from the Android central forums, which you can see below.

The One X handily outperforms the competition in Vellamo — a browser benchmark developed by Qualcomm. Hopefully these numbers help quell any unrest about the AT&T version of the One X not getting the highly touted Tegra 3 processor in favor of something that plays nice with AT&T’s LTE network.

Minecraft Creator Making Elite & Minecraft Inspired Space Sim

If anyone was having trouble believing Minecraft made almost as much money as Angry Birds as reported earlier this week, hearing about Mojang founder Notch’s shall we call it creatively adventurous  ”sandbox space trading sim” project might change their minds. One of three projects competing for the Minecraft developer’s attention, the game will apparently place focus on space trading, space combat and space… firefighting?

“I want the space game that’s more like Firefly. I want to run around on my ship and have to put out a fire. Like, oh crap, the cooling system failed, I have to put out the fire here,” Notch explained. The game will be sold using the same business model as Minecraft, allowing players to purchase early, but playable versions.

Angry Birds Space Hits No. 1 On App Store Charts

It’s no secret that the Angry Birds franchise has been a mega hit, but now we have news that Angry Birds Space is already at the top of Apple’s App Store charts in nearly 30 countries. That’s nothing for Rovio to be angry about.

Angry Birds Space is now the No. 1 paid and No. 1 top grossing app for the iPhone and iPad in the U.S., China, Germany, France, India, the U.K., and lots of other countries. The Angry Birds have officially taken over. The game features a revised game engine that adds the new physics of “gravitational fields,” which influence the trajectory of the birds and how they fly through space.

The company did an amazing marketing campaign for the game and now it looks like it is all paying off handsomely. In fact, you probably downloaded already or are about too.

XBMC Newest Media Player Available For Download

After being in the works for over a year, XMBC’s new media player: XMBC 11.o or “Eden” is finally available for download.

Eden’s numerous new features include Addon Rollbacks, improvements in the default skin (Confluence), speed increases, a simpler library, movie set scraping, additional protocol handling, better networking support, better handling of unencrypted BluRay content and structures, adjustable display refresh rate in OSX (to match the already available feature in Windows and Linux), AirPlay support, an upgraded weather service with geoip lookup, and much, much more.

Eden has also widened its market via first in-sync stable release for the Apple2 TV, iPad and other iOs Devices. It has also made itself available for Ubuntu users through XBMCbuntu Final.

XBMCbuntu is very similar to XBMClive albeit a few upgrades. It is now built upon a full LXDE desktop environment, which has a web browser (Chromium) with a fully updated (and updatable) version of Flash built-in and a GUI package manager ready to install and update all of the normal Ubuntu programs a typical Linux user might use.

The user can now toggle between XBMC and a normal desktop at will. And XBMC is also upgrade able without crashing the XBMC experience. “Naturally, those users who do not want to see the desktop will never need to. When you boot your computer, you will be booted directly into the XBMC home screen, just as you are right now. The only clear difference is the new power underneath the hood. Those users who have already installed the Beta version of XBMCbuntu can upgrade to final using the apt-get upgrade commands.” says the experts on the XBMC website.

Visual Voicemail Supported in Nokia Lumia 900 on AT&T

The news on AT&T not supporting the Windows Phone 8107 bug fix may have made fans disappointed, but they can now look at the brighter side of things with the mobile provider discovered to be supporting Visual Voicemail on Nokia Lumia 900.

Turns out, Visual Voicemail can only be activated on Windows Phone 8107, so it is possible to have the feature on other related AT&T devices like Focus Flash and Lumia 800. Another prerequisite to the Visual Voicemail is an enabled 4G LTE plan on AT&T, whether LTE is supported in one’s unit or not.

In the U.S., only the fourth-largest mobile carrier T-Mobile has announced support for Visual Voicemail, although the above news reveals that AT&T is also on the same boat. However, AT&T has pledged to be “the premier carrier for Windows Phones,” so the provider is expected to enable it too for units that are not on LTE and for those without 8107 build, only that it did not.

Nokia Lumia 900 will be released next month.
